Southwest Monsoon Has Withdrawn From India: IMD

New Delhi: According to a statement made by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday, the southwest monsoon has finally left India. On September 29, the southwest monsoon withdrew from Delhi after this year’s rainfall was incredibly unequal.

According to the IMD, rainfall during the southwest monsoon season was 6% above average, and rains in September over the country’s north and north-west regions helped close the deficit over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand.

The southwest monsoon typically leaves the whole northwest, north, and a large portion of the Indo-Gangetic plains by the second week of October. However, rainfall activity persisted this year and was connected to two cyclonic circulations.
