2 UP Cops Suspended For Helping Handcuffed Prisoner Buy Alcohol

Hamirpur (UP): A video depicting a prisoner purchasing alcohol from a liquor store while having his hands cuffed has surfaced from the Hamirpur area of Uttar Pradesh. The footage shows, a police officer assisting the detainee in purchasing alcohol. An investigation has been ordered after the incident caused uproar among the public.

The incident occurred as the prisoner, who had been arrested in accordance with Section 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), was being driven to court from the police station.

He was being escorted by two police officers. The prisoner stopped in front of a liquor store on the way and went inside to purchase alcohol. He claims that one of the officers helped him with his purchase.

A bystander recorded the entire incident on camera.

The incident came to the fore after the video of the event went viral on social media, which prompted the police to launch an investigation. The police officer who was witnessed assisting the prisoner in buying alcohol has been told to face consequences by the Superintendent of Police (SP).

The two police officers who were escorting him to court have also been suspended pending investigation.
