6 Accused of Chandaneswar Bank Robbery Nabbed; Pistols, Gold & Cash Seized

Balasore: After an intense manhunt for over two months, Balasore police arrested six accused involved in the broad daylight armed bank robbery at Chandaneswar Union Bank at Talasari on April 26. This gang of bank robbers included persons from Odisha and West Bengal.

Police seized 300 gm of gold ornaments, three pistols, nine mobile phones, four bikes, and Rs 6.2 lakh cash from the arrested persons. According to police sources, three of the accused were from Kamarda police station of Balasore district, while the other three were inhabitants of adjoining West Bengal.

Speaking to newsmen, Balasore SP Sagarika Nath informed that the arrested persons had past criminal record and they were involved in the robbery at State Bank of India and Bank of Baroda in Basta and Bhograi as well as loot at a UCO Bank ranch and jewellery shops in West Bengal.

On April 26 at about 1 pm, six armed robbers looted 600 packets of gold ornaments and Rs 45,92,910 cash from the Chandaneswar Union Bank.

Balasore police had formed a special team to track down the bank robbers. Efforts are on to nab other culprits involved in the bank robbery.
