Asaram is facing charges of rape and illegal imprisonment after a former devotee of his from Gujarat accused him of sexual abuse. In her complaint, the victim had accused Asaram of repeatedly sexually assaulting her between 2001 and 2006 during her stay at his ashram in Motera, Ahmedabad.

The Gujarat High Court, while hearing the rape case against Asaram, gave its verdict on 10 December 2021, in which the court had refused to grant him bail. After which Asaram filed an appeal challenging this decision of the High Court in the Supreme Court. Seeking bail, Asaram said that there is no sign of concluding the trial. Let us inform you that in the year 2018, a special court in Rajasthan sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment for raping a minor in his ashram.

In which both the father and son were accused of raping real sisters and keeping them illegally hostage. A Surat court on April 26, 2019, convicted Narayan Sai under sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offense), 323 (assault), 506-2 (criminal intimidation), and 120-B (conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. was convicted under The court sentenced him to life imprisonment.
