Church Burnt & Defiled in MP; Miscreants Write Ram on its Wall

Bhopal: A church in Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram district faced arson and desecration by a group of unidentified miscreants. On Monday, Madhya Pradesh police informed the media about this incident at Chauki Pura village in the tribal-dominated Sukhtawa block of the Narmadapuram district.

According to locals, the furniture of the church was set on fire inside it. Smoke from the fire, blackened its walls. Before escaping, the miscreants also wrote ‘Ram’ on the wall inside the Christian prayer hall. Police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code Section 295 (Injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) against the unidentified accused.

This church was linked to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It was built around five years back. The vagrants entered the locked church through a window and burnt it from the inside. Furniture, religious texts, and other items of the church were destroyed in the fire.
