Class VI Student Ragged by Seniors in Berhampur School

Berhampur: The menace of ragging has now reached schools. A class VI student was allegedly ragged and harassed by his seniors in a school of Berhampur.

Reportedly, the incident took place in Gurukul International School in the Gosaninuagaon area of Berhampur.

The victim was allegedly beaten up by seniors on several occasions. He was also threatened with dire consequences if he revealed his torture to anyone.

However, the boy revealed his ordeal to his mother who tried to bring the matter to the notice of the school authorities, but to no avail. She then approached the local police and lodged a complaint.

Berhampur city unit of the BJP has condemned the incident and demanded action in this connection. However, the school authorities refrained from commenting on the issue.

Earlier, two cases of ragging came to the fore from the city. One from Binayak Acharya College and another from Khalikote Junior College.
