Crime Branch Recreates Crime Scene of Gobinda Sahu Death at Kantabanji Jail

Balangir: Odisha Crime Branch team accompanied by the Scientific team of SFSL revisited Kantabanji Sub Jail to recreate the crime scene of Gobinda Sahu death case.

The CID-CB team recreated the scene with the help of a person who is approximately the same age and weight as the deceased. A similar wooden log and towel were used in the exercise.

The team also seized DVDs containing photographs and videos of the inquest and post-mortem of deceased Gobinda Sahu from the Scientific officer, DFSL, Balangir along with a Certificate under section 65-B (4)(C) Indian Evidence Act, 1872.

Earlier, a team of the Odisha Crime Branch reached Kantabanji to probe the mysterious death of Gobinda Sahu. On Tuesday Odisha DGP ordered for a Crime Branch to probe into the alleged suicide of Gobinda Sahu.  on Tuesday.

Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has directed the prison and police authorities to a detailed report of the Gobinda Sahu death case. The Commission termed Gobinda Sahu’s demise ‘a custodial death’.

The OHRC took cognizance of the matter suo moto and served notice to the Special Director General of Prisons & DCS and Balangir SP to submit their respective reports within 15 days.

The Commission has asked to place the matter before Division Bench-II on January 10, 2023.
