Drinking Water Killed Bruce Lee!

Martial arts legend and Hollywood actor Bruce Lee is suspected to have died due to drinking too much water. Drinking extra water can prove fatal for humans. This has been revealed by a group of researchers in nephrology. Their assumption related to the death of Bruce Lee because of drinking more amount of water has been published in the ‘Clinical Kidney Journal’.

The hero of ‘Enter The Dragon’ died at the age of 32 in July 1973. He suffered cerebral oedema or swelling of the brain. Earlier it was believed that this oedema was caused by painkillers that Bruce Lee was taking.

But recent research says Brude Lee’s oedema may have been caused by hyponatraemia. He died because his kidneys were not able to eliminate extra water from the body.

Hyponatraemia occurs when the sodium level in the human body gets too diluted because of the presence of extra water in the body. This can happen when one drinks too much water. The brain cells swell in this condition.

The researchers say Bruce Lee was drinking extra water. He was always thirsty due to his marijuana intake. Some drugs and alcohol also reduce kidney functioning.

It is suspected that Bruce Lee may have died due to some form of kidney dysfunction. He could not excrete the extra water which resulted in hyponatraemia and oedema.

Bruce Lee was consuming too much fluid and water. It was hinted in his biography as well as statements of his wife. Bruce Lee used to say, “Be Water my friend”. But now it is suspected that water may have become the cause of his untimely death.
