Earthquake of 5.6 magnitude Hits Indonesia

An earthquake of 5.6-magnitude on the Richter Scale hit Indonesia’s West Sumatra province on Thursday, reported Indonesian meteorology, climatology, and geophysical agency BMKG. Jolts of this quake were also felt in the nearby province of Jambi.

The epicenter of this earthquake that occurred at 6.05 am was located 36 km southeast of the Pesisir Selatan (South Coast) district, at a depth of 82 km below the soil.

The tremors of the earthquake were not powerful enough to trigger a tsunami.
