Father’s Killer Gets 7 Yrs in Jail in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: District and Sessions’ Judge Court, Bhadrak, convicted Jiten Kabi, and punished him with seven-year rigorous imprisonment under section 304 (a) of IPC for killing his father.

The convict had murdered his father Brundaban Kabi at Hansapur Dhusuri village under Dhamnagar Block in Bhadrak district on October 22, 2019.

According to reports, Brundaban Kabi was attacked by Jiten Kabi while  Brundaban was trying to prevent Jiten from attacking his brother’s wife over a property dispute. Jiten thrashed his father with a crowbar and the deceased succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Mother of the accused Pramila Kabi, had filed an FIR at Dhusuri polices station. The accused is lodged in jail since 2019.

Hearing the case today, the court realised that the accused had no ill intention to kill his father. Thus, the court awarded 7 years RI to Jiten after convicting him under section 304(A) of IPC, which deals with causing death by negligence or rash acts that does not amount to culpable homicide.
