Fire On Durg-Puri Express In Odisha Triggers Panic, No Casualties Reported

Nuapada: Fire inside a coach of the Durg Puri Express in Odisha’s Naupada district on Thursday triggered panic among the passengers.

The East Coast Railway authorities confirmed that the incident did not cause any injuries or casualties.

In a statement released the same day, the ECoR said, “The brake pads caught fire due to friction and incomplete release of brakes. The fire was confined to the brake pads. There was no damage.”

Several passengers rushed out of the train when smoke was detected in the B3 coach of the train, causing panic among others.

The incident comes days after the country witnessed one of the worst train tragedies in Odisha’s Balasore district, which claimed 288 lives and left more than 1,100 people injured.
