Ganjam Bus Accident: OSRTC Bus Driver Arrested

Ganjam: Police have arrested the driver of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) bus that collided with a private bus carrying people from a marriage party in the wee hours of Monday near Digapahandi in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The driver, identified as Manas Pradhan.

According to reports, the Pradhan surrendered at Bharatpur police station here on Monday. Later, a police team from Digapahandi took him into custody. He was reportedly taken to the accident spot after his arrest.

Worth mentioning that a private bus carrying a marriage party collided head-on with an OSRTC bus near Digapahandi on the Berhampur-Taptapani road in the Ganjam district. The tragedy resulted in the loss of seven members of a family and their relatives who were returning to Khandadeuli near Digapahandi after attending a wedding party in Berhampur. Additionally, seven others were injured in the collision and were promptly taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Two of the injured individuals have been transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further medical care.
