Ganjam’s Minor Boy Turns Cyber Fraud; Dupes Rs 1 Lakh; Nabbed by Police

Berhampur: A minor boy alleged to have conned a man of over Rs 1 lakh was apprehended by police in Balipadar village in Odisha’s Ganjam district. According to sources, the accused used an app on his mobile phone for this cyber fraud.

The man duped by him was Gokula Biswas of Sanakhadaka village under the Umerkote block of Nabarangpur district. A few days back, Gokula received a call on his mobile phone requesting him to approve an App sent to his phone. Gullible Gokula approved the App without suspecting any foul play.

Later Gokula found that Rs 1.05 lakh had been debited from his bank account. Suspecting that he had become a victim of cyber fraud, Gokula registered a complaint at the Umerkote police station. Police managed to track down the phone number from which Gokula had received the call regarding the registration of the App.

It was found that a minor boy belonging to Balipadar village in Ganjam district was behind this cyber fraud. Umerkote police went to the village and apprehended the boy.

A laptop used in this cyber fraud, 3 ATM cards, 5 cheque books, 2 bank passbooks, and Rs 1.05 lakh in cash were recovered from the nabbed cyber fraud.
