Goa Govt Bans Entry to Waterfalls, Sanctuaries; Know Why

Goa: Goa government has banned entry of the general public including tourists to all the wildlife sanctuaries and waterfalls in the state till further orders. This decision was taken following the drowning of two persons in the Mainapi waterfall in Netravali, Sanguem.

On Tuesday, the additional principal conservator of forest and chief wildlife warden of Goa issued the prohibition order barring public entry to wildlife sanctuaries and waterfall areas.

According to this directive, continuous heavy rainfall in the state has caused high water currents in rivers in forest areas. So, entry for the public inside all wildlife sanctuaries and into waterfalls will be stopped until further orders.

The deputy conservators of forests were directed to review the situation and report, for further action.
