Police Complaint Against Uber by Goa Govt for Illegal Operation

Panaji: Alleging that Uber India Systems Private Limited is illegally operating its services in the state, the Goa government filed a police complaint against the company.

A week back Uber started its vehicle rental services in Goa. Its services include airport pick-up and drop.

Goa’s Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday alleged that Uber is operating in the tourist state without taking any formal permission from the government authorities.

So, the transport department of Goa has filed a formal police complaint against Uber.  Assistant Director Transport Francisco Vaz has filed a complaint against Uber with the cyber crime cell. As per the complaint, Uber has been offering rides in the state without taking permission from the local government

Godinho said that his department has asked the police to take action against the app-based taxi aggregator. On Monday the Goa transport department gave a formal letter to the cyber crime cell for action Uber.

The Goa government has declared in the past that it will not allow app-based taxi aggregators Ola and Uber to operate in the state.
