PM Modi Lashes Out at Opposition Front, References ‘East India Company’ & ‘Indian Mujahideen’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the opposition, calling them “directionless” during a weekly meeting of the BJP parliamentary party. He mocked the opposition alliance’s new name, INDIA, which stands for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, by stating that merely using the name “INDIA” does not hold significance, mentioning groups like Indian Mujahideen and Popular Front of India as examples.

The Prime Minister accused the opposition of having a single-point agenda – opposing him – and described them as “defeated, tired, and hopeless.” He expressed confidence that the BJP would secure an easy victory in the 2024 national election with the support of the people.

In response to PM Modi’s comments, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, a member of the opposition alliance, asserted that they are united as INDIA and vowed to address issues like the Manipur crisis, violence against women, and bring back peace and love to the country.

The ongoing standoff in parliament over the Manipur crisis has resulted in repeated disruptions and stalled the government’s legislative plans for the monsoon session.

Before the session, PM Modi expressed his anguish and anger over the Manipur incident, assuring the nation that those responsible would face legal action.

The opposition, represented as the “INDIA” coalition, demanded a comprehensive statement from the Prime Minister in both houses of parliament on the Manipur issue, while the government accused the opposition of deliberately obstructing legislation with their protests.
