“Having 4 Wives is Unnatural”: Nitin Gadkari

Mumbai: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said “having four wives is unnatural”. He said this at an Agenda Aaj Tak Event on Friday. He responded like this while answering a question on Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

The statement came days after his party member Himanta Biswa Sarma said BJP is against Muslim men having multiple wives.

“Do you know any Muslim country that has two [civil] codes? If a man marries a woman, that is natural. But if a man marries four women that is unnatural. The progressive, educated among the Muslim community does not marry four times. The UCC is not against any one religion, it is for the development of the nation,” the Union Minister said.

“Uniform Civil Code should not be viewed from a political perspective and this law will benefit the poor of this country,” he added.
