Hollywood Icon Raquel Welch Passes Away at 82

American Hollywood actress Raquel Welch, who was an international cine-icon and sex symbol passed away at the age of 82 in Los Angeles on Wednesday. She is survived by son Damon and daughter Tahnee.

She started to shine in the cine world through the 1966 sci-fi film ‘Fantastic Voyage’ and the prehistoric adventure ‘One Million Years B.C.’ In a few years she became a sex symbol of Hollywood.

She is remembered for her roles in Gore Vidal’s ‘Myra Beckrinridge’, ‘Kansas City Bomber’ and Richard Lester’s delightful romps ‘The Three Musketeers’ (1973), for which she won a Golden Globe. She also acted in ‘The Four Musketeers: Milady’s Revenge’ (1974).

She was last seen on the big screen in 2001 in ‘Legally Blonde’.

She made her screen debut as one of the call girls in Russel Rouse’s film ‘A House Is Not a Home’ (1964). That year she also made an uncredited appearance in the Elvis Presley movie ‘Roustabout’.

Welch was also a successful businesswoman. She launched ‘Raquel’s Total Beauty and Fitness Program’ in the mid-1980s and recently developed a line of wigs and hair extensions, as well as skin care products.

Welch was married four times. Her first husband was publicist and agent James Welch, who was her high school boyfriend. Her second marriage was with director-producer Patrick Curtis that continued from 1967 to 1972. Producer, director and journalist Andre Weinfeld was her third husband till 1990. And her fourth hubby was Richard Palmer.
