New Delhi: Sharad Shrivastava, a businessman of Lucknow in UP lost Rs 26 lakh during his attempt to buy a Siberian Husky puppy. He never got this puppy, which is available in India for Rs 50,000.

While searching to buy a puppy of this breed, Srivastava came across the mobile number of an Aizawl-based pet dog seller company that claimed to deliver rare breed puppies in India.

According to the complaint filed by Srivastava, from June 19, 2021, he paid up around Rs 26 lakh in several installments to the company. His last payment was Rs 2 lakh. He paid the money through bank transfers.

But the promised puppy was never delivered to him. When he pressed for a refund of the paid amount, the fraudsters demanded another Rs 7 lakh from him and threatened to kill him.

Only then he approached the police. But his FIR was not lodged. So, he approached the court of law. On the court’s direction, an FIR was lodged on Wednesday in a Lucknow police station against a group of Aizawl-based pet dog sellers. One of the persons named in the FIR has already died of COVID.
