IIT Aspirant Teen Ends Life in Kota While Parents in Town to Meet Him

Kota: Mental pressure and stress claimed the life of another teenager in Rajasthan’s Kota, the coaching center hub for JEE and NEET entrance tests. This time the victim was a 17-year-old teenager from Maharashtra, who had joined coaching classes in Kota to succeed in the JEE Mains exam and get admitted to an IIT.

The most pathetic fact is that he ended his life while his parents had come to meet him in Kota. On Tuesday, he had his breakfast with his parents. Then his parents went out and he took the drastic decision, police said.

The youngster was taken to a hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead. Police are investigating the reason behind his suicide.

In recent times incidents of suicide by young students is on the rise in Kota. It is suspected that the pressure to crack the extremely demanding competitive national exams to get admission in top engineering and medical institutes of the country is taking a toll on their mental health.

Recently the Rajasthan government has proposed to put some curb on admissions in coaching centers in Kota. The state government plans to have an aptitude test of students to assess if the aspiring students have basic standards before they enroll at Kota’s coaching centers.
