India defeat England by 7 wickets in first ODI; Mandhana misses century

New Delhi: The Indian women’s team won the first ODI against England. India leads the series 1-0 with a 7-wicket win. India won the toss and decided to bowl first. The England team faced disaster from the start, but with the middle-order batsmen’s help, they collected 227 runs after losing 7 wickets in 50 overs. In reply, Smriti Mandhana (91), Yastika Bhatia (50), and Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (74 not out) for India beat England by 7 wickets.

Davidson Richard scored an unbeaten 50 for England while Daniel Waite scored 43. As a successful bowler from India, Dipti Sharma took 2 wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs. Apart from this, Harleen Deol, Sneha Rana, Rajeshwari Gaikwad, Meghna Singh, and Shana Gauswami took one wicket each.
