India Post Signs MoU with CAIT to Start ‘Bharat Emart’ Operation

New Delhi: India Post signed an MoU with the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and Tripta Technologies to start operation for an e-commerce portal named ‘Bharat EMart’.

As per this MoU, India Post will pick up consignments from the premises of traders and will ensure their delivery at the doorsteps of the consignees throughout the nation.

Around eight crore traders associated with the CAIT will benefit from it, said a release from the Ministry of Communications.

India Post in the recent past has entered into similar agreements with Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Regional Centers of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED), to provide pick-up and delivery of parcels at the doorsteps of the consignees.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan expressed hope that the recent MoU with CAIT and Bharat e-Mart would provide much needed logistics support to small traders in the country to increase their businesses and also to enhance employment opportunities.
