Japanese Woman Harassed During Holi Celebration in Delhi; 3 Detained

New Delhi: A Japanese woman was harassed by a group of men while playing Holi in India’s capital New Delhi. Three boys, including a juvenile, were apprehended and the accused confessed to the incident.

According to reports, the woman is a Japanese tourist who was staying at Paharganj in the national capital and has now left for Bangladesh.

“No complaint or call relating to any kind of misbehaviour with any foreigner has been received at Paharganj police station. An email has been sent to the Japanese embassy requesting help in establishing the identity of the girl or any other details about the incident,” police said.

A video showed a group of men smearing colour on a woman, who seemed uncomfortable around them. It also shows one of the men smashing an egg on her head.

The apprehended boys are facing action under the DP Act. Further legal action will be decided on merits and in accordance with the complaint by the girl.
