Keonjhar Jr Revenue Assistant Under Vigilance Scanner On Bribery Charges

Keonjhar: Odisha Vigilance Department official on Thursday arrested a Junior Revenue Assistant (JRA) for allegedly demanding and accepting a Rs 10K bribe.

The accused has been identified as Debashis Panda, posted as Junior Revenue Assistant (JRA) in the Ghatagaon Tahasil office in Keonjhar.

According to reports, Panda allegedly demanded a Rs 10,000 bribe from a complainant for the issuance of partition pattas (ROR) in favour of the latter and his siblings in two cases as per revenue law.

Following the trap laid to nab Panda, Vigilance sleuths are conducting simultaneous searches at three locations linked to Panda from the disproportionate asset (DA) angle.

A case (Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No. 12, dated 31.5.2023) has been registered in this connection at the Balasore Vigilance police station under Sections 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway against the accused.
