Love Astrologer Arrested for Cheating Rs 47.11 Lakh

Hyderabad: A man proclaiming to be a love astrologer on social media was arrested in Hyderabad. He is alleged to have cheated Rs 47.11 lakh from a woman.

The arrested man is identified as Lalit from Punjab, who was running an online astrology business through the pseudonym Gopal Shastri with the Instagram handle “Astro Gopal”.

As per the complaint filed by the victim before Hyderabad police on November 19, 2022, she had come across this online astrologer three months back.

Getting the phone number of the astrologer from his he social media account, the victim had contacted him for her love prediction. For it she was initially charged Rs 32,000. Later the online love-astrologer had taken away Rs 47.11 lakh from her in the name of performing rituals to resolve her problems in love issues.

The victim could later realize that she was being cheated by this online love astrologer. Following her complaint, Hyderabad police arrested accused under Sections 66 C & D of the IT Act and 419, 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
