National Digital Library for Children: FM’s Budget Gift for Future Citizens

New Delhi: A national digital library would be set up for children to facilitate quality books to the future citizens of the country. This was stated by Union Finance Minister Niramala Sitharaman during her presentation of the Union Budget 2023 in Parliament on Wednesday.

Union Finance Minister Niramala Sitharaman said a national digital library would be set up for children to facilitate quality books. Sitharaman said in a push for the National Education Policy 2020, states would be encouraged to set up physical libraries at the panchayat level. She also said that the libraries would have adequate books in regional languages.

National Child Trust, Children’s Book Trust and other sources to be encouraged to provide and replenish non curricular titles in regional languages and English, to these libraries; collaboration with NGOs working in literacy also to be done.
