Odisha Assembly Adjourned Following Ruckus

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly has been adjourned for the second time today after pandemonium over crop insurance by both the opposition Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Earlier, the State Assembly was adjourned till 4 pm due to chaos related to farmers’ issues.

When the House assembled for the day at 11 am on the second day of the Winter Session, the members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress stormed into the well of the House and created a ruckus over the crop insurance issues. As the ruckus continued, Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha adjourned the House till 4 pm.

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) gave an Adjournment Motion on Gop Zilla Parishad Member Dharmendra Sahoo’s suicide case for discussion in the State Assembly.

On the first day, the House will convene at 11 AM. The opposition – BJP and Congress discussed with the state government a variety of problems, including the recent Archana Nag honeytrap case, farmers’ rights, and mandi “mismanagement” issues.

Meanwhile, the members of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) have staged a sit-in at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. They have demanded the Union government should raise the MSP.
