Jasipur: A Junior Revenue Assistant posted in the office of Jasipur Tehsildar in Mayurbhanj district was caught red-handed by vigilance officials of Friday while he was accepting bribe worth Rs 40,000.
The erring Junior Revenue Assistant Bhargab Mahakud had demanded this bribe from a man to process the file in a mutation case for issuance of ROR (Patta) in his favour.
This person preferred to approach the Vigilance Department seeking action against the accused revenue department official.
Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Mahakud while he was accepting the bribe money from the complainant today.
Following the trap, the Vigilance officials conducted simultaneous raids at two places associated with Mahakud to unearth his disproportionate assets.
