OMDC Employee Shot Dead in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: Sushaan Barik, an employee of Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd (OMDC) was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Champua area of Keonjhar district on Saturday.

The deceased is a resident of Dalaki slum in Barbil. His bullet-ridden body was located near an electricity grid under Barbil police station limits. The bike of the deceased was found near the crime spot.

Police seized the body and sent it for postmortem. Barik was shot in the head from close range, police sources said.

Although the reason behind this murder is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that past enmity or property dispute may be the reason.

According to family members of the deceased, he had returned home since Friday evening.
