Padampur Bypoll: Counting of Votes Today

Padampur: The counting of votes will be done or the bypoll election of Padampur Assembly Constituency today. The votes will be counted in 23 rounds. The counting will begin at 8 a.m. in the RMC Ward, Padampur today.

The counting will take place at 14 counting tables arranged for the counting of EVMs and one counting table for Returning Officer (RO).

The Counting from VVPAT of randomly selected five booths will be taken up for cross-verification.

Three-tier security arrangement will be in place with the innermost layer of CAPF personnel. State armed police and Odisha Police will manage the outermost layer under the supervision of the Bargarh Superintendent of Police (SP).

Polling for the Padampur assembly constituency took place at 319 booths in Bargarh on December 5.

A total of 2, 57,474 voters (1,29,497 male and 1,27,565 female voters) will exercise their franchise at 319 booths.

The ruling BJD fielded Barsha Singh Bariha, the daughter of Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha whose death necessitated the by-poll, while the opposition BJP’s nominee is the former MLA and party’s Krushak Morcha president Pradip Purohit.

Congress’ candidate Satya Bhusan Sahu had won the seat three times earlier. The voting will be counted today.
