Panicked by HM’s beating Students Refuse to Attend School

Malkangiri: Students of Subarnapur Primary school of Korukonda block were beaten too harshly by their headmaster. Aggrieved and panicked by the severe physical pain following the beating at the hands of the headmaster, they are too panicky to go to school again.

The erring headmaster of the school, Ranjan Behera has admitted his mistake. He has realized that physical punishment is banned on school premises. To save his skin, the headmaster said,  “I was only reprimanding them but unknowingly beat them quite hard.”

Locals of the area have several complaints against this headmaster. He was also earlier accused of beating students. He is also alleged to be misappropriating rice meant for Mid-Day-Meal and shortening the school hours on several days as per his whims.

Although the parents of the students had protested against his misdeeds and demanded for his replacement, he has not been transferred from the school yet.
