Kerala GUV Arif Mohammad Khan Hits Out At CM Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who had previously alleged the state governor Arif Mohammad Khan of political interference, was publicly challenged by the governor to provide one instance of his political meddling. The governor also stated that if the CM could provide just one piece of evidence of the same, he would step down.

Arif Mohammed Khan, the governor of Kerala, denied CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s claim that he meddled politically in the selection of university vice-chancellors.

“They are saying repeatedly that I am doing this to bring RSS people. If I have nominated even one person, not of RSS, any person, using my authority, then I will resign. Will he (CM Vijayan) be ready to resign if he is not able to prove it?” the governor hit out.

“The CM is saying I am running a parallel government and they are saying they are improving the education sector. How? By filling posts in universities with underqualified and unqualified relatives of CPIM Leaders,” alleged the Governor.

“There are issues in which I must interfere. I didn’t make any allegations (about Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan). CM’s secretary was sacked. Was he patronising those involved in the case without CM’s knowledge? Then, it’s a reflection on CM’s capability,” he furthered.

In the meantime, the petition filed by the seven vice chancellors challenging the show-cause notice the Kerala governor had sent to them, is set to be heard by the Kerala High Court today.
