New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed sadness at the passing away of former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
In his message, Mr. Modi said he was a colossal figure in Indian politics and a remarkable statesman who contributed greatly to the nation. He said Parkash Singh Badal worked tirelessly for the progress of Punjab and anchored the state through critical times.
In a thread of tweets, PM Modi said, “Extremely saddened by the passing away of Shri Parkash Singh Badal Ji. He was a colossal figure in Indian politics and a remarkable statesman who contributed greatly to our nation. He worked tirelessly for the progress of Punjab and anchored the state through critical times. Shri Parkash Singh Badal’s passing away is a personal loss for me. I have interacted closely with him for many decades and learned so much from him. I recall our numerous conversations, in which his wisdom was always clearly seen. Condolences to his family and countless admirers.”

Former Chief Minister of Punjab and the founder of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Parkash Singh Badal passed away on Tuesday after being admitted to a private hospital in Mohali, informed hospital officials and party sources. He was 95.
