PM, Union Ministers & CM Greets People of Odisha on Utkal Divas

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the people of Odisha on the occasion of Utkal Divas.

PM Modi tweeted, “Best wishes on Utah Day. This day is an occasion to recognize the rich contribution of Odisha, Odisha people, and culture in the progress of our country. Wishing the people of Odisha good health and prosperity.”

Union Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan also greeted people on this occasion. He tweeted, “Congratulating the people of Odisha on ‘Utkal Day’ and paying tribute to the sons and daughters of linguistic Odisha. This day is a memorable day for all of us Utahns. Let’s unite to make the Ordhya nation strong, prosperous, and prosperous once again. Bande Utkal Janani.”

Governor of Odisha, Prof. Ganeshi Lal extended greetings to the people of Odisha as well. He tweeted, “On the occasion of Holy #ଓଡ଼ିଶାଦିବସ the Honorable Governor extended his hearty congratulations and best wishes to the people of Odisha. He called for everyone to be determined to make Odisha a prosperous state.”

Chief Minister of Odisha and Biju Janta Dal Supremo, Naveen Patnaik wished every person of the state on the occasion of Utkal Divas. He tweeted, “Heartiest greetings and congratulations to all on the occasion of Odisha Day. On this occasion, I pay my respects to the elite leaders of the creation of a separate Odisha state. Let’s maintain the pride and dignity of the Odisha community and continue with determination to build a new Odisha, an ambitious Odisha. #OdishaDibasa.”

Utkal Divas also known as Odisha Day is celebrated every year on April 1 in Odisha. This day is celebrated to mark the demarcation of Odisha as an independent state.

On April 1, 1936, Odisha was separated from the combined Bengal-Bihar-Orissa province. Hence the day marks the formation of the state as a separate state out of the Bihar and Orissa Province. On the same day, Odisha got Koraput and Ganjam districts from the Madras Presidency.

This year, the state will celebrate its 88th Foundation Day today. Utkal Divas also known as Orissa Foundation Day and Vishuva Milan.
