Police Drive Away Tantrik from School; He was called to Cure Ailing Children

Lucknow: A tantrik was called up to cure 15 girls who had become ill after eating Mid-Day Meal (MDM) at a government school at Mahua village in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district. When the video of this superstitious activity at the school became viral on social media, police and administration rushed to the spot to take action.

The self-proclaimed ‘tantrik’ was driven away from the school campus and the ailing students were admitted to a local Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. The administration also ordered an inquiry into the whole affair.

The sample of the MDM eaten by the girls has been sent for tests. It is suspected that children fell ill because of extreme cold weather. All ailing girls were between 9 and 13 years of age.

The local superstitious villagers insisted that the children of the school were getting ill because of ghosts residing there. So, they called up a tantrik to drive away the ghosts from the school and save the ailing girls.

The doctors treating the girls said they were in a panic and were returning to normalcy following treatment.
