Pregnant Woman & Husband Die in Road Accident in Balangir

Balangir: A man and his pregnant wife died in a road accident while they were on their way to a hospital on a bike in the Turekela area of Balangir district on Friday evening. Their bike was hit by a truck.

The deceased were identified as Lalita Majhi (21) and her husband Ashok Majhi (26) of Gaindimaal under Turekela block. Lalita and Ashok were on their way to a primary health center at Lathore for health check-up of the expectant mother when they met with the accident.

Their bike was hit by a Raipur-bound truck (CG-04-JC-6085). The victims were crushed to death under the wheels of the truck that hit them from the rear.

The truck driver managed to flee the spot after committing the accident. Turekela police reached the spot and launched a probe after sending the bodies for postmortem.
