President Murmu’s Tirupati Pilgrimage

Tirupati: President of India Droupadi Murmu offered prayers at Tirupati holy shrine on Monday.

As reported by The Hindu, apart from worshipping the deity, she also worshipped the cows at the ‘Saptha Go Pradakshina Mandiram’ of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) at Alipiri, at the foothill Tirumala hills.

The President offered prayers in Swamy Pushkarini of Tirupati Devasthanam and had darshan of Sri Varahaswami temple. She was welcomed by TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy and temple Archakas amidst the chanting of Veda Mantras.

The President offered prayers to the presiding deity of Lord Venkateswara inside the sanctum sanctorum. The chief priest explained to her the significance of the Mula Virat, the jewels adorned to the chief deity and Kshetra Mahatyam.

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy, Deputy Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh Narayana Swamy and Satyanarayana, state Tourism Minister R.K. Roja were present during this visit of the President to Tirupati.
