Prez Draupadi Murmu Arrives in Kolkata on 2-Day Official Visit

Kolkata: President Draupadi Murmu arrived in Kolkata this morning on a two-day official visit. She was received by the Governor of West Bengal, Dr C V Anand Bose, State Municipal Affairs and Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim, State Minister In-Charge of Fire Fighting, Sujit Bosu, Chief Secretary,  Harikrishna Dwivedi, and DG State Police, Manoj Malviya.

The President was then given a ceremonial guard of honour by three Indian Defence forces and State Police at the Airport.

Thereafter, Smt. Murmu was flown to the city by helicopter and she was received at RCTC Helipad Ground, Kolkata Maidan by the  Chief Minister of West Bengal, Smt. Mamata Banerjee and Governor of West Bengal, Dr C V Anand Bose, and others.

The President visited Netaji Bhawan to pay floral tribute to one of the greatest icons of the Indian freedom struggle, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who continues to inspire a generation of Indians.

She will also visit Jorasanko, the birthplace of Rabindranath Tagore, to pay homage to the great poet.

The West Bengal Government will be giving a civic reception to Smt. Draupadi Murmu, on her first visit to the state after becoming the President of India.
