Rapist Godman ‘Jalebi Baba’ Jailed for 14 Years; Raped over 100 Women

Chandigarh: A self-styled godman ‘Jalebi Baba’ was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment by a fast-track court in Haryana’s Fatehabad. Amarpuri alias Jalebi Baba is convicted of raping over 100 women and making video clips of the act.

Jalebi baba was a self-proclaimed tantric. He used to drug the women who came to him to ask for remedies for their problems. He used to sexually abuse the drugged women and was recording the act. Using the video clips he was blackmailing the women to extort money.

The 63-year-old Amarpuri alias Jalebi Baba was convicted under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act for raping a minor two times, 7-year jail each in two rape cases under Section 376-C of the Indian Penal Code and 5-year jail under Section 67-A of the IT Act.

All the sentences will run concurrently and the godman will spend 14 years behind bars.

The Fatehabad court convicted this self-styled godman under rape charges on January 5. At that time Jalebi Baba had burst into tears in the courtroom.

Out of the several of his victims, six had appeared in court as witnesses. The court gave its verdict based on the statements of three victims. The Haryana Police has arrested Jalebi Baba in 2018. Around 120 purported sex video clippings were recovered from him.
