Record Breaker Female Mountaineer Baljeet Kaur Dies at Nepal’s Mt Annapurna

New Delhi: Indian woman mountaineer Baljeet Kaur, who has several records to her name, died near Camp IV of Mt Annapurna. She died while descending from the summit.

Another Indian climber Anurag Maloo (34) from Rajasthan, also went missing after he fell down from around 6,000m while descending from Camp III of Mt Annapurna on Monday.

On April 9, Baljeet Kaur posted a photo on Twitter saying she was taking rest at the base camp of the Annapurna.

Twenty-seven-year-old Baljeet from Himachal Pradesh broke the record of the first Indian woman to climb Mount Manaslu without oxygen. She was the youngest woman to summit Mount Manaslu without oxygen.

She was also the first Indian to climb six 8,000M peaks in the world and the fastest Indian to climb six 8,000M peaks in the world (5 months 2 days).

Efforts are underway to bring her body to base camp, organisers said.
