100 Nepalis Missing After Joining Russian Army

Around 100 Nepali youths who joined the Russian Army are reported to be missing, said Nepal’s Foreign Minister NP Saud on Tuesday.

According to reports quoting Nepal foreign ministry sources, out of the Nepalis who got recruited in the Russian army, seven have lost their lives. Complaints have been filed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Nepal about around 100 people missing and injured, informed Foreign Minister Saud.

Russian ambassador in Nepal was called to the MoFA to discuss the matter.

As per an estimate, around 200 Nepali youths, who went to Russia on foreign employment visas, study visas and visit visas have joined the Russian army, said the Foreign Minister to the National News Agency of Nepal. According to him, the number may be higher.

Nepal government is in contact with the Ukrainian government for the release of at least four Nepalese who are Prisoners of War (POW) in Ukraine.
