Rs 425 Cr Worth Drugs Seized from Iranian Boat off Gujarat Coast

Porbandar: Around 61 kg of drugs worth Rs 425 crore was seized from an Iranian boat in the Arabian Sea off the Gujarat coast at late night on Monday. This major drug haul was the outcome of a joint operation of the Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat ATS. They apprehended the drugs-carrying Iranian boat and arrested its five crew members.

Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) had received intelligence information on narcotics being smuggled into Indian waters. The Coast Guard and ATS had kept vigil on a few hundred nautical miles off Okha Port. When this Iranian boat was located, the Coast Guard team chased and rounded up the dhow.

During the search, 61 kg of narcotic substances were found hidden in the boat.

The five Iranians were arrested and their boat was brought to the Okha port. An investigation is on to track down the persons who were to receive the drugs from the Iranian boat in the high seas.
