Shraddha Murder Case: Sword-Wielding Men Attack Police Van Carrying Poonawala

New Delhi: A group of persons with swords attacked a police van of Delhi police that was transporting Aaftab Amin Poonawala, the accused of the gruesome murder of his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar, on Monday evening.

According to sources, police managed to save Poonawala from getting harmed. The attack took place outside west Delhi’s Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), from where he was being taken back to jail after his second polygraph test.

Parking their car in front of the police van five men came out waving swords targeting the van with Poonawala. Policemen managed to control the situation and two attackers have been taken into custody.

It is alleged that the attackers claimed to be members of the Hindu Sena. Police are investigating the authenticity of their claim.

In a statement, the Hindu Sena said, ” The organization does not support any such work which is against the constitution of India, we believe in the law of India”.

Following this attack, Poonawala’s security has been heightened. Today he was again taken to the FSL from Tihar Jail for another round of polygraph test. Apart from jail security and police, paramilitary personnel were also deployed during the transportation of the murder accused.

Aaftab Poonawala allegedly strangled his girlfriend Shraddha Walkar and cut her body into 35 pieces which he dumped in the forest near the flat they shared in Delhi’s Mehrauli.
