Sudan Crisis: Another Batch of 297 Indians Arrive in Mumbai; Situation Remains Volatile

Jeddah: 297 more Indians have been rescued from violence-hit Sudan. In total, six groups of about 1,100 Indians were evacuated from Sudan with the help of this second ship, informed V Muraleedharan, the MoS of the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday. INS Sumedha transported stranded Indians to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as part of the “Operation Kaveri” rescue mission.

According to India’s Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, the country has been working to safeguard the safety of its citizens despite the fact that the security situation in Sudan is still extremely complicated and unstable.
He stated during a media conference that India has been in contact with all parties involved in Sudan with a focus on evacuating Indians from the crisis-hit areas.

The foreign secretary stated, “Our focus has been to evacuate the Indians from the conflict zones to safer areas as soon as possible and to bring them back home.”

According to him, 360 Indians have been returned to their country as part of “Operation Kaveri,” and another group of 246 are on their way.
He claimed that now, over 320 Indians are being transported to the Saudi city of Jeddah from Port Sudan.
