Taliban Slays IS Mastermind of Kabul Airport Suicide Bombing

The Islamic State (IS) terrorist, who masterminded the August 2021 suicide bombing at the Kabul airport that left 13 US troops and about 170 Afghans dead, was killed in an attack by the Taliban. This was confirmed by the US officials on Tuesday.

Initially, neither the US the Taliban were aware that the mastermind was dead. This unidentified IS terrorist was killed during a series of battles between the Taliban and the Islamic State group’s affiliate in April in southern Afghanistan.

US intelligence confirmed “with high confidence” that the Islamic State leader had been killed.
