‘The Kerala Story’ Gets ‘A’ Certificate from Censor Board with Removal of 10 Scenes

Chennai: Director Sudipto Sen’s controversial Hindi movie, ‘The Kerala Story’ was issued an A certificate by the Censor Board. The CBFC reportedly deleted 10 scenes from the movie. Since the release of its teaser last year, this film is in the news because of its controversial story. It will be released in theatres on May 5.

Scenes with derogatory remarks about Hindu Gods in the movie have been removed. Some dialogues have been tweaked. There was a TV interview given by a former Kerala CM where he stated that Kerala over the next two decades would become a Muslim-majority state as youngsters are being influenced to convert to Islam. The CBFC ordered that this entire TV interview be deleted from the film.

The Kerala Story features a character named Shalini Unnikrishnan aka Fatima Ba, alleged to be among 32000 women recruited by ISIS in Kerala.

The Kerala government as well as the Opposition leaders in the state wants the film to be banned in the state. The Muslim Youth League in Kerala has announced a Rs 1 crore reward to anyone who proves that 32000 Malayali women were, in fact, radicalised by IS.
