Tiger Mauls 60-Yr-Old Farmer to Death in UP

Lucknow: A 60-year-old farmer was allegedly killed by a tiger on Friday evening, while he was grazing his livestock near Mahof forest of the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve in Uttar Pradesh.

Locals held a protest with the farmer’s body on the Madhotanda-Pilibhit highway for some time. Senior police officials along with authorities of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve reached the spot to pacify the protestors, by assurance of proper compensation to the victim’s kin and capture of the tigers roaming outside the reserve forest.

The farmer was attacked and killed by the tiger on the spot. The man-eater tiger was carrying the victim’s body into the jungle when people in a nearby area noticed it. Seeing the crowd, the tiger dropped the body and ran away.
