Two Sons Of Odisha Police DSP Charged With Murder In Bengaluru

Bhubaneswar: Two sons of a DSP of Odisha police are among three persons charged with fatally assaulting a 54-year-old man in Bengaluru on April 2. The victim named Lloyd Nehemiah died on April 4.

The three accused in this murder case are Basudev Samantray (34), his younger brother Anirudh Samantray (28), and his friend Abhishek Singh (31). Basudev and Anirudh are the sons of Keshab Kumar Samantray, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the State Crime Records Bureau in Bhubaneswar.

Anirudh is an advocate serving an MNC in Delhi while Basudev works with a construction firm in Bengaluru. Anirudh had gone to Bengaluru to meet his elder brother’s family.

According to police sources, the incident took place when the accused trio was playing loud music in a car in the wee hours of April 2. The victim had objected to it. It is alleged that the trio had attacked and lethally injured the victim.

Odisha police DSP Keshab Kumar Samantray, however, claimed that a false narrative was being spread about his sons. A counter-complaint was also filed in HAL police station in Bengaluru, said the Odisha police DSP.
