Balasore: An elected ward member suffered multiple injuries when he was attacked by a group of unidentified miscreants at Khaira Munipada square in Balasore district on Saturday. The injured person was identified as Dipak Panigrahi of Dalanga village. He represents ward number 6. He was hospitalized in serious condition.
The miscreants also set his bike on fire. According to sources, around six to seven youths attacked this ward member. These youths are said to be from the Tutha village. Past rivalry is suspected to be the reason behind this attack.
Five to six days back Panigrahi had a quarrel with these youths. On Saturday, Panigrahi was attacked with plastic pipes by some masked men. Although their faces were covered, the injured ward member claims to have identified some of them. Police have started an investigation to track down the assailants.
