Wrestler Sakshi Malik Denies Withdrawal from Agitation, But Resumes Railway Duty

New Delhi: Agitating wrestler Sakshi Malik denied the reports in the media that she had called off her protest against the WFI chief after meeting Home Minister Amit Shah. Sakshi tweeted: “This news is completely wrong. In the fight for justice, none of us has backed down, nor will we. Along with Satyagraha, I am fulfilling my responsibility in Railways. Our fight continues till justice is served. Please don’t spread any wrong news”.

Agitating Olympian wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat met Home Minister Amit Shah on late Sunday evening. This meeting took place at Amit Shah’s residence. According to sources, during this meeting, they discussed their allegations and agitation against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief.

The meeting was a long one but no decision could be reached, said sources. Bajrang, Sakshi and Vinesh are spearheading the protest of wrestlers against president of the WFI, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh since April. Many wrestlers including a minor have alleged sexual harassment against the WFI head.
